Our LGBTQ+-affirming program serves adults across the full spectrum of gender identity and sexual orientation who are navigating substance use disorders, mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, and PTSD, and trauma rooted in identity-based experiences that mainstream treatment has historically not been equipped to hold.
Many of our LGBTQ+ clients have been through treatment before in environments that were not affirming where they felt they had to choose between being honest about their identity and engaging fully in treatment. At Worthy Wellness, that choice does not exist. Our clinical team, environment, and program structure are designed to make full honesty possible from day one.
How We Treat LGBTQ+ Clients at Worthy Wellness
Our LGBTQ+-affirming clinical approach draws from the same advanced, trauma-informed modalities available across all our programs including EMDR for trauma processing, somatic experiencing for body-based healing, Internal Family Systems therapy for reconciling internal conflicts related to identity, affect regulation, and vagus nerve stimulation for nervous system regulation. These are combined with CBT, DBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Polyvagal-informed therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy based on each client’s individual clinical picture.
Individual therapy provides a private, affirming space to explore identity, process experiences of discrimination or rejection, and develop the self-awareness and coping strategies that support sustainable recovery. Group therapy connects LGBTQ+ clients with peers who share similar experiences reducing isolation and building the community connection that is particularly significant for individuals whose social networks have been disrupted by identity-based rejection.
Holistic programming including yoga, sound healing, breathwork, mindfulness, equine therapy, nutritional counseling, and fitness complements the clinical work addressing the physical and spiritual dimensions of healing alongside the psychological. For clients where medication-assisted treatment or TMS therapy is clinically indicated, those are available as part of an integrated treatment plan informed by genetic testing.
